Pro-freedom rally in Aishmuqam; Geelani holds Sit-In at Hyderpora; Clashes erupted in LethporaA massive pro-freedom rally is being held near Aishmuqam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday. The rally is being held at Fohar-akad village of the district.
The participants were shouting slogans in favour of Kashmir’s freedom and against India.

Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Saturday hold a sit-in at Hyderpora after he was not allowed to move towards Lal Chowk. As soon as Geelani along with his associates came out of his residence to march towards Lal Chowk, police tried to arrest him.
Hurriyat sources told Kashmir Post that Geelani led a sit-in on airport road for half an hour. Pertinently, joint Hurriyat had called for a “Referendum march” today however it was foiled by strict curfew and restrictions in the whole valley.

Clashes erupted in Lethpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday after the body of Suhail Ahmad, who succumbed at SKIMS earlier today, reached home.
Witnesses said that the youths placed the body of Ahmad on the Srinagar-Jammu highway and staged a sit-in.
Government forces, they said, used teargas shelling to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes.
Meanwhile, thousands of mourners participated in the funeral prayers of the deceased youth.
Ahmad was injured after a security guard of SDM Ramban opened fire on protesters on August 2. He was shifted to SKIMS in critical condition where he succumbed in the wee hours today.
